History

2010.3: Yoshizawa and two engineers started the business. Initially, the company focused on developing applications for Android and iOS on a contract basis.
2011.4: Moved to Shibuya office.
2011.5: Released its first product, Scirocco (OSS), and got a big response at a large-scale exhibition during the same period. Starting with this, the company began providing open-source software for mobile application developers.
2011.9: Won the “Red Herring Asia 100 Award“ Final at Hong Kong.
2011.12: Won the “Red Herring Global 100 Award” final at Los Angeles.*Past winners of “Red Herring Global 100 Award” include companies like Google, Yahoo, YouTube, eBay, Salesforce.com, and Baidu.
2012.3: “Scirocco Cloud®” official service released.
2012.10: Awarded IT Pro EXPO Award 2012 for its product “Scirocco Cloud®”

To energize society through customer service

Sonix celebrated its 10th anniversary in the spring of 2020. I think this is the result that our customers have appreciated our mobile business we have been working on since our founding and our ability to participate from the planning stage and flexibly suggest what is necessary for each project when customers start a new business or consider upgrading an existing business by utilizing new software technologies. Another strength of our company is its development know-how to apply the advantages of agile development to large-scale systems while maintaining a high level of maintainability and this know-how was accumulated from experience of a lot of large projects with a development period of more than one year by major corporations.

In recent years, we have been providing consulting and solution services in a wide range of software areas, such as mobile, IoT, cloud, AI, and data management services utilizing our in-house developed data analysis platform. We will continue to focus on the Mobility business that is aimed at major taxi companies, MaaS operators, and various mobility service providers. In order to realize a smart city and smart mobility society in the future, Sonix will offer strong support you with advanced software technology and hope to create the future of MaaS in Japan together. Takenori Yoshizawa

Joined a software venture company in 2000, gaining experience in sales, corporate strategy, and international business (Silicon Valley). Founded a web technology company in 2002 and assumed the role of CEO. After transferring the business in 2006, held various leadership roles including launching an entertainment business, providing management consulting, and serving as president of a group company under a major electronics manufacturer. Founded Sonix Inc. in 2010, focusing on mobile, cloud, and open-source software businesses. Expanded into the mobility sector in 2015. In 2019, the company embraced the vision of becoming a “Mobility Tech Company” and shifted its focus further toward mobility. Currently, Sonix is driven by two core pillars “Mobility DX” and “Urban Development DX,” aiming to create a more comfortable and sustainable society through the power of technology.
Also serves as CEO of Sonix Research & Development Inc., a subsidiary established in 2021, and as an outside director of cynaps Inc., an AI/IoT company engaged in the smart building business.

Jun Nakajima

(President of Archetype Group Co., Ltd.)

After graduating from the Faculty of Sociology, Hitotsubashi University, he joined Dentsu Inc. He has been involved in the Internet business since the dawn of Internet business in 1994, and has taken charge of marketing, business strategy planning, and service and brand building. Joined Inspire Co., Ltd., in 2000, right after its founding. He took charge of new business consulting for business companies and incubation for venture companies. Established Archetype Co., Ltd. in May 2006 and took office as Representative Director. In 2013, he also served as President of Archetype Ventures, Co., Ltd., a newly established venture capital firm. He has also taken charge of Platform Mentor, ICT Mentor of Independent Administrative Institution for Information and Communication Technology as a specialist in open innovation, including outside directors of several companies.

Toshimasa Shakui

After having experiences in SIer industry, he joined a printer & copier manufacturing company in 2003. After working on software development for printers and copiers, he was seconded to Europe. Utilizing the expertise gained in development, he led sales and solution marketing activities across Europe. Upon returning to Japan, he served as a head of Business Planning Section in the software development division, contributed to the global deployment of applications. Later, as a head of Business Strategy Department in newly established division, he took on the challenge of launching new business initiatives, led M&A and post-merger integration (PMI), and successfully established these businesses in a short time. In 2020, he transitioned to SHIMANO INC. After engaging in new product planning for bicycle components, he was seconded to the Netherlands and served as a Managing Director of the affiliated company. Currently, he is leading company-wide projects within an organization directly reporting to the president.
